The Facial Paralysis Institute offers virtual consultations with globally recognized facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Babak Azizzadeh. A virtual consult allows Dr. Azizzadeh to remotely meet with a patient and discuss facial paralysis treatment options.

A virtual consult is beneficial for both a patient and Dr. Azizzadeh. For patients, a virtual doctor consultation allows them to:

How Does a Virtual Consultation Work?

An online consultation offers a convenient alternative to an in-office meeting. Since a virtual consultation is conducted via a desktop computer, laptop, or mobile device, a patient can join the meeting anywhere an internet connection is available.

To set up a video conference with Dr. Azizzadeh, a patient first needs to provide the following information:

• Address
• Date of birth
• Copy of their ID
• Copy of insurance card (front and back)
• Photographs of the front of the face with a soft smile and front of the face with a large smile in which the teeth are visible

Once Dr. Azizzadeh receives this information, he determines if a patient is eligible for facial paralysis treatment. If Dr. Azizzadeh believes a patient can benefit from a facial paralysis procedure, a video appointment can be scheduled.

A virtual consultation is similar to an in-person meeting. During a virtual consult, a patient and Dr. Azizzadeh evaluate facial paralysis treatment options.

A patient is billed a consultation fee when their virtual consult is scheduled. Telemedicine forms are sent to the patient before the virtual meeting. The patient is also required to complete new patient/medical history forms prior to their online consultation.

Following an online consultation, a quote is sent to a patient that outlines their facial paralysis treatment costs. This quote is delivered within two weeks of the patient’s virtual consult.

Which Is Better: An In-Person Consultation or an Online Consultation?

In-person and virtual consultations differ; an in-person meeting requires a patient to visit our Beverly Hills office, while a virtual consult is held remotely. Yet, in-person and online consultations are used for the same purpose: to help a patient find a safe, effective way to treat their facial paralysis symptoms.
